It started with a love of food...
Since her youth on Cape Cod, Amy Isabella Chalker has had a passion for food - not just eating it (though that's high up on list!), but also the psychological, sociological, emotional, and wellness aspects of food and how we produce, promote, and consume it across populations and cultures.
With her nutrition training and degree as a Registered Dietitian, Amy began her journey by opening a private practice, Isabella Massage & Nutrition Services, dedicated to helping people consume food and feed their families in emotionally and behaviorally healthy ways. She has led public talks both locally and regionally, including her signature workshop, Talking With Their Mouths Full, and has been featured on national media platforms, all while establishing successful, long-term relationship with her clients.
Isabella Gourmet Foods became the next iteration of Amy's food journey, with her establishment of this boutique artisan grocery at 5 E Figueroa St in Santa Barbara, CA. She founded the shop with the intention of supporting the locavore food movement, helping new artisan producers find their footing and unique voice in an often saturated food market. In doing so, Amy garnered The Spirit of Entrepreneurship Award in the Emerging Business Category, and earned a top five finalist position in Ontraport's Modern ONTRApreneur Awards.
In 2017, Amy took her nearly 15 years in the food and wellness world (12 in Santa Barbara) and channeled them into Isabella Consulting, assisting artisan food producers and other emerging businesses in successfully establishing their companies by navigating the permitting, branding, marketing, pricing, and networking necessary to find presence and profitability in Santa Barbara and beyond. She also works with small-to-mid-sized markets to help them establish their brand and curate their inventory with local product that strikes a balance between increasing sales and supporting local.
Amy is adept at garnering local, regional, and national press for her clients, tracking leads that convert to sales, and offering consistent social media and web content support. Her strong copywriting skills and years of developing original content for her own businesses lend themselves to generating rapid, precise work that sells. Perhaps most beneficial is her strong, personal network of local food establishments, hospitality industry contacts, and artisan producers. It doesn't hurt to have national distributors and retailers on speed dial!
